Love your body. You can’t heal a body you hate.

“Most psychologists treat the mind as disembodied, a phenomenon with little or no connection to the physical body. Conversely, physicians treat the body with no regard to the mind or the emotions. But the body and mind are not separate, and we cannot treat one without the other.” Dr Candice Pert

Having worked in the health industry for over 20 years, I can without a doubt state that most illness’s that manifest are directly related to one’s emotional state, past trauma, current trauma and a complete lack of love for one’s self.

Loving your body is probably the most powerful strategy, yet often overlooked.

There will be no transformation physically if you dislike your body, loathe yourself and carry any form of resentment, regret and anger.

Dr Candice Pert and Dr Bruce Lipton are both extraordinary doctors and researchers who have clinically validated the theory of emotional states affecting every cell in the body.

They have remarkable books on this topic.

“Since emotions run every system in the body, don’t underestimate their power to treat and heal” Dr Candice Pert.

Candice once commented, “We’ve all heard about Psychosomatic Illness, but have you heard about Psychosomatic Wellness? Be very conscious about your daily inner voice and corresponding behaviours.”

How true!

The Study of Epigenetics

I have always been intrigued by the fascinating world of Epigenetics: How Our Thoughts and Emotions Can Impact Our Genes and Health.

Epigenetics is the study of changes in gene expression that do not involve alterations in the DNA sequence. These changes can be caused by a variety of factors, including environmental factors, lifestyle choices, and even our thoughts and emotions. It can be passed down from one generation to the next, and can have a profound impact on our health and well-being.

Epigenetic studies recognize that genes are not our destiny. Our genes are turned on or off in response to environmental factors, including thoughts, emotions, and lifestyle choices.

In my view it is a missing link in our modern medical world. I often work with people who seem to be doing everything by the book and yet not getting well.

Cells, Body and Environment

According to Dr. Lipton, the cells in our body are not controlled by our genes alone.

They constantly receive signals from their environment, including our thoughts, emotions, and the chemicals in our bodies. They turn our genes on or off, impacting our health.

An example is when you are in a constant state of stress and anxiety, your body releases the stress hormones which activate the  genes related to inflammation and disease. Ongoing inflammation can lead to chronic inflammation – the underlying cause of many diseases.

So, Dr Lipton is showing that we have far more control over our health than we can imagine.

If we cultivate positive emotions, make healthy lifestyle choices, and take steps to reduce stress and anxiety, we can actually influence our genetic expression and promote optimal health and well-being. Our thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions can profoundly impact our biology. It is the concept of “mind over genes”.

Chemicals of Emotions

“Molecules of Emotion” is a book published by Dr Candace Pert.

It looks at the chemical basis of emotions and the impact they have on our physical and mental well-being. She provides insight into a world of neuropeptides, receptors, and the chemical complexes that shape our emotions.

She talks about the “bodymind”, how our emotions are not just a mental state but how it affects our physical health. She also talks about the connection between emotional states and their influence on the immune system. That negativity suppresses immunity while positivity boosts immunity – the role in chronic stress.

This is all just the tip of the iceberg, I highly recommend you do research.

Power of Love

We can have agency over our body, and create the environment for healing with a change in mindset and behaviours most especially from within us. Whether eating differently, relooking at our lives, our work, our relationships, our mental health and most of all, our inner dialogue.

You can’t heal a body you hate, you need to nourish it out of love, move it kindness, rest it, be kind and gentle to yourself in every moment.

Your body will always work for you and not against you.

So many of us who have experienced serious illness /dis-ease, can now look back and see just how well it served us. The way the body communicates, sends signals and alerts us is an opportunity for us to change things up.

Literally, the power is within you, it’s about making that mental positive decision.
